THE DISTRICT, a drama inspired by the real-life experiences of former New York Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple, stars Craig T. Nelson as Jack Mannion, a tenacious crime fighter whose revolutionary tactics resulted in a 50 percent drop in crime in his former cities of jurisdiction. Appointed Chief of Police by the Mayor of Washington D.C., Mannion’s quest is to “make crime a thing of the past.” Mannion’s inner circle at Police Headquarters includes the dedicated Chief of Patrol, a young detective who functions as Mannion’s “eyes and ears,” a hot-shot cop who is not above bending the rules to solve a crime and an intuitive police officer working as Mannion’s assistant. Together with his team, they form a group of modern-day “Untouchables,” determined to make THE DISTRICT livable for all of its citizens.
